Driving Verse – May 28, 2017

This is the Memorial Day Weekend the traditional start to summer vacation and travel.  Whether travel is in your plans for today or during the summer, or simply a short trip to the store or shopping mall I offer this little verse.  Perhaps you might wish to keep this handy as a prompt to yourself when ever you sit behind the steering wheel of your vehicle.  And if you do not find this verse favorable then perhaps you will be encouraged to make one of your own.

Sitting behind the wheel,
In gratitude I pause,
Many people have made this possible.
May this moment remind me,
To not be in such a hurry:
That I miss the beauty,
That I cause no harm, accident, injury, or death,
That the Dharma permeates all.
May the Buddha in me be the driver today.

With Gassho,
Ryusho
