31 Million Gallons Per Minute – Niagara Falls – October 20, 2019

From October 15 – 17 I was visiting Niagara Falls Canada.  I have already posted about my visit to the Pure Land temple of 10,000 Buddhas.  Also I posted about my visit to the Underground Railroad Museum on the US side of the falls.  In this post I’d like to share a little about Niagara Falls itself.

The falls are the result of the Niagara River draining Lake Erie into Lake Ontario.  There are three falls which make up the entire Niagara Falls experience.  The largest of the Falls is Horseshoe Falls and the two smaller falls are American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls.  Horseshoe falls straddles the US and Canadian border and is sometimes referred to as Canadian Falls.  The other two falls lie entirely on the US side of the border.

The best viewing spot for the falls experience is on the Canadian side where you can see all three falls as well as the Niagara River gorge both before the falls and after the falls.

While I was there I paid the fee to go under the Horseshoe falls and behind it.  I understand the fee charge however I do think it was excessive given the number of people who pay the charge.  Just in the time I was there perhaps as many as 75 people were along with me and that was only a 30 minuet span of time.  But who am I to question the cost of upkeep and paying the salaries of those who work at the gift shop and visitor area?

I hope you enjoy these photos as well as short videos.
