Year End – 2014

Hello to all of my readers. Here we are at the end of 2014, what a full year it has been.

For myself I thought I would share with you my goals at the start of 2014 and report on what I was able to accomplish.

Because I am a firm believer in setting goals I do this to encourage you to do the same. It has been shown by science that setting goals is both a good way to ensure you are the most productive you can be, and it also can serve to increase happiness and containment.

Here were my main goals for 2014 – the ones that are in bold were completed:
Trip to France
Finish Essay on Senji Sho – Selection of Time
Write Book on Nichiren Shonin – Story of Sun Lotus
Publish Lotus Sutra Study Lecture
Publish Essay Collection Book #2
Publish Essay Collection Book #1
Assemble and Submit all documents to APC for Denomination Recognition
Submit documents for BCC committee
Write book on Magic City
(there were of course some personal and private goals not included here)

Of these goals I accomplished all but three; the book on Selection of Time, Book on Nichiren, and Essay Collection #2. I was able to make two trips to France, so that was more than I had planned on. There were several other trips and conferences I was able to attend that were not on my original goals. Completing the denomination recognition for Association of Professional Chaplains was a major piece that needed to be done so I could move forward on becoming certified as a Chaplain. The documents for that certification amounted to an almost two inch stack of papers, and I successfully completed and submitted them in July. In October I met my committee and was certified. All of that was a major accumulate of effort and one I was relieved to have completed.

Unexpectedly I needed to have surgery in November. The outcome of that was favorable and it allowed me an ‘excuse’ to take two months off and rest, renew, and reflect. It was a good time to just be.

If you are interested in reviewing the annual report on my blog activities here is a link to a public report.

I am looking forward to a wonderful New Year 2015 and I hope to share it with you.

Finally, if you would like to share your goals and accomplishments this past year, please share them in the comments. Let us all celebrate the good things of the past year.

With Gassho,
Ryusho
