New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day Service Schedule

It’s almost time to welcome in a new year, 2018.  This year as in years past Myosho-ji will celebrate this occasion with a series of services.  At this time our intent is to put to rest the things which we have accomplished as well as the things yet to be finished and reflect on the outcomes and ways of moving forward.  This is a time to reflect on our past behaviors with  a gentle heart yet fierce determination to seek the truth of our selves.

From these efforts of reflection our aim is to begin to see clearly a path for us in the new year avoiding our missteps and finding new ways of being a Buddhist in the world around us.

The New Year’s time, while arbitrary in reality is concrete in life in this world.  We can of course choose to celebrate any moment as the start of a new year, yet to do so would also be out of harmony with our environment.  We must always consider our environment both its reality and its reflection on our selves.

I hope you will consider this as an invitation to join with us to conclude the year 2017 and begin again with new first efforts in 2018.
