3rd Urban Digital Dharma Retreat Spring 2018

The 3rd Digital Dharma Retreat will be held the weekend of May 4th, 5th, and 6th 2018.  I wanted to have this the weekend of the anniversary of the Izu Exile however that day is also Mother’s day this year and so it probably wouldn’t work so well for many people.

The theme I am considering is how we each, depending upon the circumstance, leave a part of ourselves out and bring differing parts in. This can be strategic, it can be habit, it can be known, it can be unknown.  How much can we know about ourselves using Ichinen Sanzen?  How might greater self-awareness better serve us?  What do we know about self?  What do we not know about self?  What is hidden?  What is knowable? What is unknowable?  What do others see about us that we do not?  (Johari Window + Ichinen Sanzen)

When some people fear we may be going from Spring to Winter politically, socially, environmentally and so on while many celebrate Winter turning to Spring, how might we each connect to and engage with others more effectively and provide the hope that the Lotus Sutra offers and Nichiren writes of, that winter never fails to turn to spring.

As in the past these Urban Digital retreats will offer a variety of readings, activities, lectures, conversations, personal exercises to engage in, interactive video and responses, practice and service times.  The schedule will be such that each person may join live as much as they are able considering their own personal schedule.  During times when it isn’t possible to participate live there will be things to do and opportunities to share your actives with others.

The previous two retreats have been quite successful and folks all state the benefit of having participated and the learning they gained from their participation.

I will in the coming weeks post more detailed information about how to sign up and what is to be expected during one of these retreats both as a reminder to previous participants as well as to inform prospective participants.

I look forward to spending a weekend with you in May.
