“They are truly good friends of living beings, an excellent field of blessings for the living. without having to be asked, they teach living beings. They are a place of tranquil happiness for living beings, a place of salvation, a place of protection, and a place of great reliance. For the sake of living beings everywhere they become excellent leaders and teachers, great leaders and teachers. They become eyes for the blind, and ears, noses, or tongue for those who are deaf, or have no nose, or cannot speak. They restore defective organs and turn the deranged to great and correct thinking.” The Sutra of Innumerable Meanings.
This was the passage I meditated on during the day, especially when I was walking. As I walked I alternated between chanting Odaimoku with Namu on my left foot, myo on right, ho on left, ren on right, ge on left, kyo on right.
Today I managed to get out to the track early, 06:30 and with the cool morning breeze and soft drizzle walking 2.31 miles for one hour was not as challenging as yesterday’s shorter walk in the heat.
I was able to finish up the carving on both blocks and did a test print for registration. This is my first close registration multi color print. I am very pleased with the outcome. The base color on the test print is too dark and for the final print I will make it much lighter.
All of the test prints have been done by hand. For the final prints I will use the etching press to get a good solid clean print image. Perhaps tomorrow or the next day I’ll put it on the press and begin to make copies.
I probably will offer the limited prints for sale to those who wish to have a copy.
I’ve been having tremors/shaking all day. I put off doing my shakyo for the day until later hoping that the shaking would become less. It only became worse. So, even with a shaky hand I went ahead and did the shakyo. The writing is poor, yet the spirit was in the right place.
