Shadows Anniversary of the dropping of an Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima 1945 On this day 67 years ago the first use of an atomic weapon on mankind was carried out by dropping an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. It would be followed three days later with a bomb falling on the Japanese city of Nagasaki.

Healing Our Vision In the Jewish faith the year is divided into months that correspond to a letter of the Hebrew alphabet, a zodiac sign, one of the 12 tribes of Israel, a limb of the body, and a sense. My original idea for this posting was to have it appear in the correct month, however because I was finishing up the 35-Day practice I saved it for later.

Unexpected Even though we live with an expectation that certain things will happen in certain ways, the reality is that there is a real possibility that something unexpected may happen. Actually the unexpected happens probably more frequently that we are aware, it is just that over time we have become better able at managing the potential upset in our lives.

Not Easy Working on the 35 Day Practice guide was a great activity for me, as I hope it was for anyone who kept up with it. It was a good opportunity for me to look at the Lotus Sutra from what I imagine a new person would view it. It isn’t easy to begin to practice Buddhism and the Lotus Sutra, it is sometimes even harder to keep on going for many years.
